“In the right place at the right time” is the perfect way of describing our visit to Glory House of Prayer. We received a warm, warm, welcome and were escorted to the front row. The worship team was on a sabbatical so they had worship videos playing. Soon the videos became what felt like a full orchestra playing with a host of angels singing with us. The focus was not on the methodology … it was on God. And as the worship music continued, the presence of God continued to grow stronger.
Pastor Precious opened up in prayer, proclaiming the healing and victory that God has promised us. Her divine exuberance was contagious. This was followed by testimonies from two women, both of which were about other people. One spoke of a miraculous healing when she prayed for someone in public. The other shared how she had given the Gospel message and led someone to Christ. Pastor Omotayo then made some opening remarks and he blessed me with an opportunity to speak about Church Journeys and the vision God gave me for the Capital Region through the Upstate NY Ministry Network. As I spoke about how I diversify my visits by journeying to different Christian denominations, I noticed the diverse ethnicities in the GHOP family … a wonderful display of UNITY right before my eyes.
The depth of Pastor Omotayo’s message made it difficult for my pen to keep up. His revelatory teaching deserved a “play back, so I was happy to hear that you can listen to the archived sermons on their website! He talked about his obedience when he got the call to come to Albany and had to embrace the cold weather. God has a reason and a purpose for where we are. In Ephesians 1:3-4, the blessing of the Lord spoke about is past tense. We are ALREADY blessed! “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has BLESSED us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Even before he made the world, God LOVED us and CHOSE us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.” We are grafted into the generational blessing promised to Abraham. God gave Abraham a “visual” when He told him that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore (Genesis 22:17). Our thoughts and what we envision play a crucial role in our God given vision coming to pass. Pastor Omotayo also gave visuals, and used the example of a thermostat. We all have one, but we don’t get warm unless we turn it up!
He then read Romans 4:20-24, substituting his name into the scripture – “OMOTAYO never wavered in believing God’s promises. OMOTAYO is fully convinced that God is able to do what He promises. And because of OMOTAYO’S faith, God counted him as righteous.” We ALREADY have the mind of Christ. We can think about our future and ask God to give us a picture of where we are going. We can envision our future – seeing our marriage healed, our finances healed and God doing wonderful things in our lives.
Pastor Omotayo then prayed over the people and one gentleman came forward to receive the Lord and we said a salvation prayer together. Then Melissa Maldonado led us in prayer for the pastor and his God given vision for Glory House of Prayer and the Albany region. She went on to share a multitude of announcements, including the collection of Christmas donations for an orphanage they sponsor in Africa. Following the service, they invited all first time visitors to come into a private room where we received a welcome package. Pastor Omotayo and Pastor Paul Schlimgen came in to personally welcome everyone. We were asked to submit any prayer requests and it struck me how the name of this church is so fitting. Glory House of PRAYER certainly puts PRAYER in the forefront of ALL they do.
